An Appeal To Everyone
With abundant support of well wishers, our Sanstha has raised all the necessary funds and completed the project successfully in good time with all the necessary permissions.
As the Sanstha will manage and maintain the working of the Crematorium for a period of 5 years extendable upto 30 years, the project now seeks to build a corpus for the ongoing operations of the Crematorium. The Sanstha will also be providng its services free of cost to anyone irrespective of caste, creed and religion.
One Hindu cremation means felling down a fully grown tree which has taken 10 to 15 years to grow to its size. With the rise in population and reduction in forest cover the ecological balance has been disturbed. The traditional cremation process gives out a lot of foul smell, polluting ash and smoke. Post cremation disposal of Ash is also a problem.
The death rate in India is 11 per 1000 out of which 9 per thousand would require cremation by wood. It is estimated that 85 Lakh trees are felled every year for the purpose of cremation resulting in depletion of approximately 5500 Hectares of forest.
After careful study of the Hindu Cremation process, its adverse effects on the environment, we the members of “Senior Citizens Santacruz (Pashchim) Sanstha developed eco friendly Piped Natural Gas based Crematorium “EcoMoksha” at Brihan Mumbai Hindu Crematorium at 99, Linking Road, Santacruz West, Mumbai—400054. It has being developed on MOU basis with MCGM at a cost of development at Rs. Three Crores. The cost of running this Crematorium and with an estimated 1000 cremations per year would entail running costs of around 30 Lakhs.
Now, we appeal to all our citizens to change their “ATTITUDE” from traditional cremation methods to modern methods so that we can save woods, save trees & save environment.
In view of the above, we request you to come forward for the noble cause and donate generously so that the project can be run smoothly.
We look forward to your kind gesture which will go a long way in saving our environment. In order to donate, please view our Contact Us section. Membership of the Sanstha is also open at the discrimation of the Managing Committee.
